Reinstalling NVIDIA graphics card drivers on Windows 11
Step-by-step guide with two methods (GeForce Experience & manual)
When does a new installation make sense?
Reinstalling the graphics card driver can resolve many issues. Typical causes include:
-
No image after waking from power saving mode
-
Black screen after startup
-
Screen flickers, freezes or remains dark
-
Games show graphic errors or crash
-
External monitors are not recognized
-
NVIDIA Control Panel does not start
-
Errors in Device Manager (e.g. Code 43 or Code 31)
-
Errors occur after Windows or driver updates
-
After changing the graphics card
-
If you have problems after previous driver installations or remnants
Which method is right for me?
method | Advantages | Who is it suitable for? |
---|---|---|
GeForce Experience (recommended) | Simple, fast, automatic updates | Recommended for most users |
Manually via Device Manager + NVIDIA website | Thorough, removes all residues, the cleanest choice for existing problems | For power users & existing errors |
